Employers

This year we delivered a number of significant initiatives aimed at supporting employers across the state.

The cornerstone of this assistance was the Victorian Government’s payroll tax cuts and exemptions.

On 1 July 2016, the threshold was increased to $575,000 and the wages of displaced apprentices and trainees became exempt.

In addition, we also administered the extended job categories of the Back to Work Scheme by providing financial assistance to businesses hiring unemployed people living in the Latrobe Valley and retrenched workers from the Hazelwood power station.

More payroll tax changes are expected in the 2017-18 year that will target businesses in regional Victoria.
